Letter from the Pastor - July 11, 2010
Greeting To All Our Brethren And Friends!
I hope this letter finds you doing well! I wanted to let you know that plans for the Feast of Tabernacles in Colorado Springs are going full steam ahead. Today of course is our Church Fast that God will help us to do His Work and have a blessed Feast. I have seen from year to year that God has honored our prayer and fasting and helped us in so many ways. I delvered a message recently on the importance of fasting and hope be sending it out shortly. If you would like a copy of that sermon in cd or dvd disc, let me know and we'll send you a copy if you are not already on our sermon outreach program. There is no charge of course. Our outreach program is supported by the voluntary tithes and offerings of our friends and brethren.
We are still compiling our speaking schedule for the Feast. I plan on speaking the first and last days of the Feast. Mr. Brian Bettis, a minister from the Colorado Springs area has cheerfully voluntered to be our song leader and will also be speaking. This year the Church of God, International has graciously offered to send a long time friend of mine, Mr. Wynn Skelton, to speak out our Festival and he will be speaking on the fourth and fifth day of the Feast. I in turn will be speaking at a C.G.I Feast in Harrison, Ark. on the sixth day of the Feast and be back in Colorado Springs on the seventh day. I think it is wonderful when we as God's people can work together, even though we are in different organizations. Most importantly, we are still brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are planning many wholesome activities for the Feast. We will of course have our traditional visit to the Flying W Ranch for this year and Chuck Wagon Dinner and their wonderful music show. I have always been a lover of true western music and need my Flying W Ranch "fix" each year. It makes me feel like I am out on the plain with Roy and Gene; the stars are out and we are gathered around the camp fire singing perhaps "Home on the Range"!
Well, I am starting to get "Feast Fever" just thinking about all of this! Hope you are making plans to attend at whatever Feast site you might choose.
Drop me an E-mail or letter when you can; it's always encouraging to hear from you. As my good friend from the CG7, long time Elder John Kiesz used to say, "Keep Looking Up!"
In Christ's Service,
Phill Dunagan-Festival Elder
Letter to Members - June 13, 2010
Greeting To All Our Brethren And Friends!
This special letter is to inform you of our upcoming Church Fast for the 2010 Feast of Tabernacles and God’s Work. Several years ago, we decided it was important each year before the Feast of Tabernacles to set aside a day of fasting and prayer that God would bless our efforts to sponsor a Feast of Tabernacles site. The Feast of Tabernacles and Last Great Day each year completes the Festival season for God’s Holy Days and what an important and refreshing time it really is. My wife and I have been observing the Feast of Tabernacles for decades and have always commented that many of our most cherished memories have been at the Feast of Tabernacles. The spiritual refreshing, the special time with the brethren and the Festival experience is simply like no other time of the year.
It is indeed a foretaste of God’s Kingdom.
When we first began the Western Region Church of God, the need was impressed on me that we needed to sponsor a Feast of Tabernacles. There was a need in this area for brethren for a site that wasn’t extremely distant, as travel expense has become an increasing concern for many of God’s people. Colorado Springs is a beautiful area and has drawn many brethren from far reaches of our country as well. I also believe we needed a stable, “ middle of the road” Feast site that celebrated this festival with sound doctrine and the historic practices that so many of us prefer. I make no apologies for that. Yet, we are an “open door” Feast site and each year do invite speakers from other organizations that love God and believe in the observance of the Feast of Tabernacles as we do. Any one is welcome to attend as long as they come with an amicable spirit.
We are setting aside Sunday, July 11 as a fast day for God to help us with the Feast this year. Many of us will probably fast from Saturday evening to Sunday evening; that of course is a personal choice. Some of you may, because of health reasons, be unable to fast but for a meal or two. Others may be unable to fast at all; but we would still appreciate your special prayer on this day. Of course another day might work better for you. This fast is totally voluntary. We are deeply thankful for your help and support.
In Christ’s Service,
Phill Dunagan-Elder
I hope this letter finds each of you doing well and in good spirit. We just celebrated an inspiring Feast of Pentecost recently and are so very thankful for the insight that God’s Holy Days continue to give us. I have been observing the Feast Days since 1967; my wife Jeanette began observing them as a little girl back in the 50’s, yet the Feast Days continue to be as inspiring as ever! This letter is to inform you of our plans for the upcoming 2010 Feast of Tabernacles sponsored by the Western Region Church of God. We will be celebrating the Feast this fall in Colorado Springs at a the same facility we have been at for the past three years. They have done some remodeling; have added an indoor saltwater swimming pool that hopefully we’ll be able to use for any baptisms we have at the Feast. They restaurant also will be open for longer hours at the Feast; so that should be an added plus. This year the 2010 Feast of Tabernacles will be observed from Thursday Septmber 23 until Thursday September 30 , which of course will be the Last Great Day. It will be helpful to remember that most of the brethren will be arriving on Wednesday, September 22 and spending their last night at the Hotel on Wednesday , September 29 , checking out of the Hotel the next morning. We will be adding additional information on our Church web site www.wrcog.net as our speaking and activity schedule is firmed up. The Feast of Tabernacles 2010 will be held at the:
The Clarion Hotel is conveniently located on the NW corner of I-25 and Bijou. There are many beautiful sites and activities in this area, as well a vast selection of dining and restaurant choices. The Clarion provides a free shuttle to the airport in Colorado Springs.
The daily room rates will be 69.00 + 9.4 % tax. Reservations should be made by September 10 to insure getting the special Church rates. The rates include a free hot breakfast buffet daily and Cocktail reception hour 4:30-6:30 PM, Monday-Friday. Jeanette and I look forward to celebrating the Feast with you surrounded by the inspiring, rugged beauty of the Colorado mountains! God’s presence will surely be there!
